Hatchet General Contracting is owned and operated by Wichita area native- Jacob Hawkins.  The story started at a residential construction company in Kansas City where Jacob was the Chief Operations Officer and a Project Manager. Being around numerous construction projects as an employee of both subcontractors and the General Contractor, it was realized something was missing from the day to day operations.

In today’s world it seems construction has evolved into a process where nothing matters except profit percentage and the amount of money made from a client. Home builders, sub-contractors, and GC’s using the cheapest products and systems in order to maximize profit margins.  Most companies are building 200-$300,000 homes that look great but lack energy efficiency due to the use of cheap products & systems where it matters most: the insulation system, the windows, the doors, the framing system of your home, the sheathing system for the exterior, the size of your windows, and the HVAC system. After the budget is spent on the aesthetic items, you’re left to use cheaper products for what truly matter for the life of the home. The way homes are being built in today’s market is the wrong way to build.

We are changing the way homes are being built by using Construction Science and Building Science to give you the best product for your hard-earned money. A place that is affordable to live in after it’s built as well as beautiful and luxurious. We are also proud to be the first builder in South Central Kansas designing and building Energy Star rated homes and HERS rated homes. The entire country is building by these standards but not south-central Kansas. Every single one of our builds will have the ability to receive a HERS rating or an Energy Star Rating.
