Jake, Kansas native residing in Valley Center with his wife- Katie, dog, and two children.
He’s been in the construction industry for nearly 20 years in many different capacities for several different individuals and companies.
From working on multi story high rise buildings to simple house remodels; there are very few things in the industry he hasn’t done.
Jake completed his first full home build along with class mates in the house building program at Halstead High School under the supervision of a great carpenter and teacher Mr. Tim Hertzler.

Jake is also the designer and draftsmen for Hatchet General Contracting. He is a self taught draftsmen learning the craft over three years of independent study and online courses with multiple different modeling softwares. Jake has been drafting architectural and building documents for the last decade.

Currently he is also a contracted project manager for a large residential and commercial insulation contractor, as well as a certified energy expert. Through the learning for this occupation he has also studied building science in depth to understand how to build better, more energy efficient homes and commercial buildings. This culmination of years of education and experience is what has lead to the formation of this company with the foundation of designing and building better quality homes and structures that far exceed the standards and norms of the building industry in the area.

Katie, resides in Valley Center with her husband, Jake, two step-children, and pupper, Timber. Together, Katie and Jake form a dynamic and proud husband-and-wife team, seamlessly blending their talents in the realms of exquisite custom residential construction, and also co-owners of a thriving real estate business.

Katie holds a Psychology degree from Wichita State University, infusing her work with a unique perspective. While she may be newer to the construction world, Katie holds a wealth of valuable knowledge and experience in Marketing and Business Administration, including Management and Human Resources.

But that's not all – Katie's entrepreneurial spirit shines through her diverse experiences, including successfully running and owning a partnership Amazon business with her father. Together, they navigated the complexities of selling FBA and FBM products, showcasing Katie's versatility and adaptability.
